A Date at Le Violon d'Ingres, Paris
When Si told me he was taking me to a Michelin Star restaurant in Paris I was super excited.
We don't get chance to 'date' much with 2 kids, so when we do we always try to make it as special as possible, because you know, we only get the one shot. We make it count.
In my mind I thought that Le Violon d'Ingres Restaurant was going to be way more flashy than it was. I think because it had the Michelin Star and we'd had many meals in Paris before that were all really high standard. Even Steak + Chips at a Bistro is top class in Paris and an all time favourite for us.
I wrongly assumed that this was going to be stuffy + awkward.
I'd been busy in work & hadn't had chance to research it at all. I turned up not really knowing too much about the place. I was pleasantly surprised & happy.
This is French gastronomy at its best. It's sophisticated, refined, quality.
It was classic, it was effortless, it was simple. Crisp white linens, white porcelain and earth wear. It was just so beautiful. The service was sleek and smooth. The place has a really nice relaxed vibe about it. I find this amazing when you know behind the scenes how mad the kitchen must be.

Restaurant Review: Si enjoying a date night meal at Le Violon d'Ingres Paris
Review: A beautiful meal at Le Violon d'Ingres Paris
I was really impressed by this restaurant. I liked that it wasn't fussy. It was all about the quality. It was all about the service and both were done very well. Le Violon d'Ingres knows what it is. It knows that it's good. It doesn't show off or shout about it. It just is.
I really love that about the place.
Described by the Michelin Guide here as a luxurious neo-brasserie style - tasty traditional dishes with a modern twist that show a good technical mastery.
All discerning foodies will love this place. It comes highly recommended by us. And we look forward to returning to try another season for a date night soon.
Booking is essential.
