The list started as 17 things to do, then moved to 21 things to do and is now at 25 or so things that we loved in Singapore. It depends on how much time you have. Whether you're here for a whirlwind city break or have a weekend in Singapore or, like us, spending a slow month soaking in its rhythm, pottering around the city and it's neighbouring districts. Here's a curated list of the best things to do in Singapore — perfect for families, couples, or solo adventurers looking to go beyond the obvious to take from what you need. This is our list of really good things to do in Singapore, for those spending more time in the city, mixing daily life with sightseeing, and likely with kids in tow. This isn’t just a tourist checklist; it blends must-sees, slow moments, and local gems because with our guides we want to share with you all the things to do in Singapore city that allow you to experience the city rather than just see it.


21 Things to Do in Singapore

🌆 Iconic Attractions (obvious but seriously worth doing / seeing)

  1. Visit Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Take in panoramic views of the city skyline and the iconic infinity pool (accessible to hotel guests only, but the observation deck is open to all).

  2. Don't fancy the mall? Take a $10 picnic with $1,000,000 views! Sit on the Helix Bridge and munch away happily people watching. Listen we like a picnic, OK!

  3. Explore Gardens by the Bay Walk beneath the Supertree Grove, visit the Cloud Forest & Flower Dome, and catch the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show in the evening.

  4. Snap a Photo with the Merlion No trip to Singapore is complete without visiting the Merlion Park for that classic tourist shot.

  5. Take a City Bus Tour - These things are damned touristy but heck if you're a tourist this is the best way to be one in our opinion! You get to see ALL the major sights in one bus trip. Get off at the places on this list that you fancy. We used the tour as the days transport costs too and stopped at Botanic Gardens, Gardens By The Bay, Marina Bay, The Grand Prix Track, China Town.

🛍️ Unique Neighbourhoods & Cultural Spots

6. Stroll Through Chinatown Discover temples, heritage shops, and delicious hawker food at The China Town Complex or one of MANY Hawker Centres for cheap and delicious food! Our Top Tip for keeping costs down and from our experience you won't eat better.


  1. When in China Town - Don’t miss the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.

  2. Get Lost in Little India Enjoy vibrant colours, spices, and culture. Visit the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple and Tekka Centre.

  3. Experience Kampong Glam & Haji Lane This trendy district blends Malay heritage with hip boutiques, colourful murals, and the stunning Sultan Mosque.

  4. Walk the Southern Ridges Hike through elevated walkways and lush greenery, including the striking Henderson Waves bridge.



🌳 Nature & Wildlife

  1. Visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Relax among tropical plants, swan-filled lakes, and the stunning National Orchid Garden. You can take the Singapore hop on Hop off city bus tour directly here as part of the ticket cost.

  2. Explore the Singapore Zoo & River Wonders One of the world’s best zoos, known for its open-concept enclosures and Night Safari experience.

  3. Take a Day Trip to Pulau Ubin Rent a bike and explore this rustic island, a glimpse of old Singapore with mangroves, wildlife, and kampong vibes.


🍜 Foodie Experiences

  1. Eat at a Michelin-Star Hawker Stall Try local favourites like chicken rice at Tian Tian or Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle.

  2. Join a Hawker Centre Food Crawl Head to Lau Pa Sat, Maxwell Food Centre, Tiong Bahru Market (top floor hawker) or Old Airport Road for satay, laksa, char kway teow, and more.



  3. Have a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel Sip the city’s signature cocktail where it was invented — an old-world experience in a luxurious colonial setting.


🎨 Art, History & Museums

  1. National Gallery Singapore Home to Southeast Asia’s largest public collection of modern art, housed in beautifully restored colonial buildings.

  2. Changi Chapel & Museum Learn about the stories of POWs and wartime Singapore during World War II.

  3. ArtScience Museum Iconic lotus-shaped building featuring immersive and futuristic exhibitions, often great for families too.



🏖️ Relax & Unwind

  1. Visit Sentosa Island Choose from attractions like Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, Adventure Cove Waterpark, or just relax on the beaches.

  2. Take a Sunset Cruise Experience the city skyline from the water, with luxury dinner cruises or traditional bumboat rides.

  3. Check Out Jewel Changi Airport Even if you're not flying, this is a must-see — home to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, lush gardens, and shopping galore. Jeees we've never seen an airport like this and saw that Singapore plans to double it's size in news of an expansion that came out in 2025! I mean I literally can't imagine the scale here. And brilliance, because Singapore does things very well!

  1. Wander Clarke Quay at Night Enjoy riverside dining, bars, live music, and a buzzing nightlife scene.

  2. Watch Spectra – A Light & Water Show A free nightly show at Marina Bay Sands that combines music, water jets, lasers, and projection effects over the bay.
