Getting Off The Beaten Track in Ibiza - Time & Space - The Speed of Light
When you think of Ibiza, vibrant nightlife and clubbing may come to mind, but the island also offers a host of family-friendly experiences. We've visited the Island 14 times, since the ibiza clubbing days in the 90's right up to current day with kids.
We know all the best places to visit as a family and a couple for date weekends, and solo trips with our Aura Photography Business + Si's Music. Si Dj'd there over many years and trips were taken as part of his work. There was a point in time when we thought that maybe we'd move there. But the Universe had other ideas. For now. But the feeling is that Ibiza will always have a special magnetic pull for us.
One unexpected gem that stands out, to visit with kids too is Time and Space - The Speed of Light, Ibiza, Spain BY Andrew Rodgers. A site on the West Coast of the Island, 13 proud Basalt columns, 29l x 16w x 10h m (95' x 53 ' x 33') in Ibiza, Spain (38°56'50.39"N 1°13'44.07"E). But what's interesting about this place is the meaning and concept behind it. Something that groovy kids can really get behind. And our kids loved it. AS would any free thinking spiritual awakening adult.
We sat there and had our usual baguette, cheese and meats picnic on the site, under the shade of an olive tree. Took in the breathtaking sites, got VERY hot - the sun is blazing up there - but connected to the energy that's up there and had a great day.
A must visit off the beaten track for solo travellers, couples and families! Go Go Go!!!
Check out our YouTube video of our visit...
13 basalt columns with the tallest column highlighted in 23-carat gold to reflect the message with the setting sun on the day of the Winter Solstice.
The sequence is laid out around the circumference of an ellipse alluding to the trajectories of the planets moving around the sun.
It is a vision of time and space and the interconnectedness of humanity.
At the site is some interesting rock formations as you'll see in the video and we found a sweet little wishing tree where we left our own wishes up on that cliff top. Watch the video for a story about the crazy demonstration of this interconnectedness! Involving social media and the person that actually planted this BELOW olive wishing tree!
